Second Surgery Scheduled

Lily will be having her second surgery on August 8th. Thomas will be having a small surgery on June 21st. I pray that neither will need another surgery for a long time after!

Medical Update

Two weeks ago Lily's endocrinologist suggested a second testosterone stimulation test to make sure the surgeon had removed all bad parts of her ovaries. So we took her in every day for one week for hormone shots and blood draws. Yesterday, at church, her surgeon called me with the results. The results were not good. Her surgeon will have to re-explore and possibly remove both ovaries. I was disappointed and so sad at the prospect of our baby going through surgery again. But we couldn't have gotten the news in a better place, because we immediately took her forward for prayer. God has a special plan for our girl, and we trust that it is a good one!

It's been SO long!

I know! I know! It has been nearly two months! We've been busy wrapping up our school year and, honestly, I feel like God is calling me to a deeper relationship with Him. It's hard to explain, but I KNOW God expects more from me, and I know it has to do with orphans. I don't know what He wants--I don't plan to adopt again--but I know it is my calling. I cannot be in His will if I am not making time for Him. Right now, I feel like I need to be spending more time with my family, and less time on the computer. I'll be back with an occasional update, though.

Lily's surgery is just 8 days away. I will keep everyone updated from the hospital.

My personal battle with the IRS

Once upon a time the US Government offered a tax credit for those of us who adopt children. In the last two years, the IRS has started auditing everyone who claims the credit. I'm all for honesty and the audit process, because there may be people who take advantage of the credit. What I struggle with is the fact that the process is taking 8 months on average!
